News - 2007/2008
Whilst many of our kids are off playing other sports over the winter, these are only some of our "young guns" that have been "flying" at Albert Park on Saturday afternoons during the winter racing Walking season. Many of them also run at Cross Country on Saturday mornings, so they are certainly "up and about" and very active :-)
They have so far enjoyed a brilliant season and surprised themselves with excellent results and continue to better their PBs every week. The distances covered vary from 1km for the youngest all the way up to 5km some weeks for u15s. Of the junior walkers competing weekly, Waverley has the largest turn out of the 50+ enjoying the beautiful sunny winter arvos. Overall there are around 100 competing ranging in age from 6 to 80 years young ! And I can tell you, getting beaten by "more senior in age" men and women is something you have to get used to, as it's a "regular occurrence" !
