News - 2009/2010
A lot has recently happened on the cross-country calendar, a busy end to the season.
It was great to see many faces at our last weekly cross-country meet at Bellbird Dell. It was the last run as juniors for Erica and Anthony. We wish you both success in your future running opportunities.
Thanks to Paul Hanlon and Peter Babinczky for their help at Bellbird Dell, their second duty for the season!
Thank you to all parents who assisted with duty throughout the season, it certainly helped the programme run smoothly.
A number of our athletes recently competed at Bundoora as part of the State Schools competition. Well done to all those who qualified for these high standard events. (A great effort by the Debickis who drove straight from the airport to Bundoora after enjoying a lovely trip overseas. That’s dedication!)
VLAA State Championship Results
The four day forecast was looking ominous, however we were blessed with some sunshine and believe it or not, we were at times warmish … at Bundoora! A miracle!
Our Waverley tent stood out amongst the tent village and our 20 athletes came and went throughout the day.
The course was quite grueling, with a headwind as the course weaved uphill after the first bend. Despite the challenge our athletes fought on and came home strongly.
A special congratulations to our Under 9 Boys team which finished 2nd. All under 9 boys, James Burren, Murray Fahey, James George and Timothy Ziguras, ran a great race.
Congratulations also to our Under 12 Boys team, Patrick Ziguras, Jordan Warren and Mukund Premkumar, which finished in first place.
Unfortunately for James Hanlon, he niggled a heel injury earlier in the day at soccer and could not compete. We look forward to you being part of the team again next year.
Thank you to all parents who graciously completed duty on the day.
