Congratulations to our 6 Little Athletic runners who competed in the cross-country relays at Sandown Race Track.

The day had a wonderful family friendly atmosphere with the senior athletes running the circular track while the junior athletes ran laps up and down the straight.

The day was sunny and bright, which made the grassed area feel like a massive picnic ground.

Our athletes ran 2 km leg relays.  There was a slight headwind in one direction, but the hills were negligible compared to what they are used to!  They enjoyed the experience of running on a car race track … our ‘chequered flag / race track’ Waverley tops certainly making it look like we belonged there!

Our girl’s team competed in Under 11 although it included Nela Debicki from Under 9.  The team also included Rachel Kannegiesser and Ellie Sanford.  All 3 athletes competed well to finish 5th overall.

Our boy’s team competed in Under 11 although it included James George from Under 9 and Lachlan Sanford from Under 10.  The team also included Konrad Debicki.  All 3 athletes competed well to finish in 2nd place.  They proudly wore the stunning sashes they were presented with.

This is the first time this event has been conducted and I look forward to seeing it continue in the future!
