Waverley Little Athletics Centre Inc.

The Region Track & Field Championships were held on Sat/Sun 18/19^th Feb down at Frankston.  The 2 days of comp were held in great conditions (25 - 30 deg) with just some heat and wind to deal with in the afternoons - but the lightning and rain held off.

Thanks to a brilliant job from our Team Managers Wendy Masters, Joanne Paola & Nicole McDonnell for their "flawless and calm work on the days" and immense amount of pre-event organisation.  We had an ennormous amount of duty to fill, but once again, all our parents were really committed and completed the allocated duties on time and without any fuss.  We also had many "youngsters" assisting.  A big thanks to Mitchell Smith, Damian Johnson, Ethan & Imogen Rennie, Lee Phillips-Snowden & Ciara O'Sullivan for your tireless efforts.  Thanks also to Craig Sanford, Craig Bonney, Sean Mattheisz, Brian Miller & Gavin Burren for their work as Event Managers over the 2 days ! 

Special mentions to Dylan Cooper, Nicole & Steve Lopes and Tammy Stephens for their roles as Key Officials (these roles account for a portion of our duty requirements on the day and their commitment is greatly appreciated).

And lastly to our athletes !  A few spills and crashes, but all recovered and bounced back for their next events ..... awesome !!!  Regardless of where they finished, they all proudly represented Waverley with their efforts, sportsmanship and behaviour.... and new hats.  A Great Team Effort by all !!! 

Congratulations to the 41 athletes that have qualified for States ...... a great acheivement !!!  This is made up of 15 boys , 26 girls across 96 events.  Regardless of being a "qualifier or progression" - this means the same thing ....... YOU'VE MADE IT TO STATES
