Claimed to be Victoria's fastest growing sport, Little Athletics is to be established in Glen Waverley.
Many enquiries from parents in the area, has prompted the Waverley Amateur Athletic Club to sponsor the movement, which caters for the athletic activities of children between the ages of 7 and 12 years.
A formation meeting of parents will be held in the Presbyterian Hall, at the corner of Kingsway and Bogong Ave., Glen Waverley on Tuesday, November 12, when members of the Little Athletics Association of Victoria will show films of "centres" in operation. They will form the 35th such "centre" in Victoria, on that night.
At this meeting, clubs will be formed, to make up the "centre" and it is hoped to start competition for the children in early December.
Children at all schools in Waverley will be circulated with official V.L.A.A application forms for membership in the next two weeks.
There are now more than 15,000 children taking part in Little Athletics in Victoria, although the movement has been in operation only two years.
A strong centre is already operating at Oakleigh and others have formed at Springvale and Knox this year.
