Attendances continued to grow at the Waverley Little Athletics Association's competition on Saturday, reaching 870. 

And the organisers expect this to grow a great deal more. Already the Waverley council are considering new tracks and modern facilities to cover every branch of athletics. 

The Association hopes for an all-weather track. 

The aim of the executive is to have at least six events for each child in each age group each Saturday and with extra facilities this can be done. 

Best individual performances last week-end were:

BOYS

100 metres, Under 9 - D. Birrell (Syn. North), 15.5; R. Croxford (Syn. North), 15.5; U.10 - C. Couper (G. Wav), 14.4; U.11 - N. Koop (Syn. North), 13.8; G. Couper (G. Wav) scored the highest points on the day with 1014. 

GIRLS

U.11 Triple Jump - S. MacDonald (Syn. North) 8.50m. 

Winners of more than one event were:

G. Sutherland (E. Hghts), U.8, 70 and 100 m, 1692 pts; A. Ferguson (G. Hghts), U.9 long jump, discus, 1769; P. Waite (Syn. Nth), U.11 hurdles, long jump, 1721; M. Couper (G. Wav), U.12 100m., triple jump, shot put, 2648.

GIRLS

P. Jones (M. Wav.), U.10 100m. shot put, discus, 2491; S. MacDonald (Syn. Nth.), U.11 high jump, triple jump, shot put, 2305; R. Callendar, U.12 100m, shot put, 1401.

The Waverley Centre championships will be held on Saturday, March 29 at Central Reserve. Best performers in each club will compete in a gala meeting.
