News - 2017/2018

Good Morning everyone,

Welcome to week 2 of our season at Waverley LAC.

Firstly, I'd like to announce and thank Denis Irvine for taking on the role of Arena Manager!
This is a huge role and a big step for the Centre, as we had no volunteers for this position, which would of meant that our Program could have stopped running.
Denis will be in charge of running the program, he's the man to speak to on Saturdays and he will take over sending these weekly emails in the next week or so.

This week we are running the first of our three rotational programs, Program 1 (Short/Long Hurdles).
Attached is the Program as it stands - however, we are having some technical difficulties with adding the 200mH and 300mH events - so hopefully the final program will be up tomorrow!

Fantastic kick off last Saturday, well done to all Volunteers (Committee, Parents, Age Group Leaders and those who have no children at the Centre who are helping).
Special thanks to John Shone (our former Vice President) for coming back to assist us with the BBQ and Canteen even though his grandchildren aren't involved this year!
As a volunteer run organisiation, we require a lot of help on Saturdays - we still need someone to help/run the BBQ, Race Starters, Timekeepers and Recorders.

A couple of reminders:

1. Our favourite - High Jump Coaching on next Monday 16th October, from 4.30 pm for U8 and older.  If possible, come slightly earlier to help set up the high jump area.
2. We are a hosting an Introduction to Coaching Clinic (ITCC) on Sunday 29th October. Very convenient and ideal for Age Group Leaders or any other parents that wish to attend. 3. Relays: Sunday 12th November – Mentone LAC Relay Open Day U8 – U15; Saturday 25th November – SMR Region relays U9 – U15; Saturday 16th Dec – LAVic State Relays for those teams and athletes that qualified from the region championships. See Age Group Leaders, Centre mentor – Merryn Ashcroft or a member of the committee if you wish to participate. We need a Relay Team Manager.

Our track has really sprung to life. There's still a little bit to go before it's it's former glory, but the Monash Council do a great job looking after our facility.
Yesterday I did a little bit more Line Marking so we're ready for the weekend. There are some photos on Facebook, go on and take a look.
