It’s with great sadness to inform you that the Centres first Life Member, Jack Rigby, passed away on the 24th August 2019, 91 years of age.
Jack Rigby and his family started Little Athletics at Waverley from the very beginning and were part of the St. Leonard’s Little Athletics Club. Little is known of Jack’s involvement at Club level, but he was on the Centre Committee from 1977/82 and was awarded co-first Life Membership along with Tony McMahon in 1982/83. Jack was also a regular Key Official at SMR and LAVic Championships in the 1970’s and 1980’s. Jacks children held several records at Waverley and I believe some of those historical records still stand.
John (Jack) Irvin Rigby was born on 18th October 1927 and passed away suddenly on 24th August 2019. He was married to Frances for 66 years, father of 6, grandfather of 14, great grandfather of 4 and great great grandfather of 1.
Jacks funeral was held on 30th August 2019 at St. Leonard’s, Glen Waverley. He is the second WLAC Life Member that has passed away since Frank Mardell in 1992.
