News - 2020/2021

Dear WLAC Families and Athletes, 

I hope you're all well and enjoying some nice weather. 

This is my final reminder email to you regarding the below topics. 

Region & State Athletes
Can all those athletes that participated at the recent Region & State Championships please be prepared for a group photo this Saturday at Waverley. 
If possible, please bring along your medals or place cards to include in the group photo. Individual photos can also be taken which will be displayed on our social media platforms and possibly in next years handbook etc! 

Annual General Meeting
This Saturday is our last week of competition at Waverley, yes I know, it's gone very fast thanks to Covid-19 lockdowns. 
We will be running a short program from 9am, followed by the AGM that will begin at 10:30am SHARP inside the clubroom, followed by a free BBQ!

It's very important that parents support our Centre by showing an interest, attending this meeting and consider taking on a Committee position to help run the Centre into the 2021/22 season and beyond! Remember, we are all volunteers, we give our time so your children have a fantastic sport to be part of and many hands make light work. It's a very rewarding experience being part of this team at Waverley. 

Presentation Night
On Saturday night, 20th March, our Presentation Night will be held at the Mulgrave Country Club. 
Thank you to those of you who RSVP'd for the dinner service. Your support has been overwhelming and it is much appreciated. 
Please note that only those families or individuals that have pre-booked with me can attend for dinner. 
No further bookings will be taken and no walk-ins/additional meals can be catered for in our function room on the night.

Timetable for Presentation Night is as follows:

• 4:00pm - Committee Members attend for set up
• 5:00pm - Function Room opens for Dinner attendees - (pay at entrance to function room - I will be sitting there with the list!)
• 5:30pm - Function Room bar facilities open
• 5:45pm - 1st Dinner Course served
• 6:10pm - 2nd Dinner Course served
• 6:30pm - Function Room opens for all attendees and guests
• 7:00pm - Presentation Night begins!!

This is the highlight event on our calendar and is one not to be missed! There will be a number of door prizes on the night!!

Alternative arrangements will be made for those who can not attend on the night to collect trophies, certificates etc. 

Cross Country 2021
Preparations are underway for the winter Cross Country season, due to begin in mid-April. All registered members are eligible to participate in weekly events run by the Knox LAC, at no additional cost. More info will come out soon but we need someone to step up and take on the role of Cross Country Manger to liaise with Knox, our athletes and send out weekly information to families. 

Finally
A huge thank you to everyone for their efforts and support during the 2020/21 season, a season which has been the most difficult during my time at Waverley. Lets keep up the great work everyone. Good luck to all athletes participating at the State Relay Championships on the weekend on 27th/28th March 2021.
