Good Morning WLAC Members,

It's with regret to inform you that our Secretary, Timo, has resigned from the position effective 28/07/21 due to a change in personal circumstances. This decision was not an easy one to make, however Timo felt it was best to relinquish the role to make way for someone else to take over. 

We thank Timo for his efforts as Secretary, albeit short. He will continue on the General Committee and we look forward to his valued input and continued support. 

At the Waverley Little Athletics Centre Inc., the Committee is run by a group of dedicated volunteers, who give up their time to ensure our Centre can operate to provide a sport for your children. 

We need parent volunteers to step up, now more than ever, by joining the WLAC Committee to ensure the short term and long term success of the Centre. I can not emphasise to you how important it is that we fill our vacant Committee positions. We need new volunteers stepping up and contributing to running the Centre. Without you, our sport will not be possible. 

The following Committee Positions remain vacant and we need parents/volunteers to consider taking on one of these roles as soon as possible:

1. Secretary
2. Arena Manager
3. Publicity Manager

Secretary
Forming part of the Executive, the Secretary is responsible for managing the Centre administration, day-to-day operations, correspondence, organising Committee Meetings and taking meeting minutes. There are several processes in place that make this role easier for our volunteers. Under the consumer affairs rules, we need to appoint a new Secretary within 14 days. 

Arena Manager
Responsible for executing and running our program on a Saturday morning in conjunction with our Centre Mentor, President and Key Officials. Also responsible for making changes to our program and the optional responsibility of announcing. Our previous Arena Manager, Denis Irvine, did a fantastic job and has left a decent size pair of shoes to fill. 

Publicity Manager
Responsible for organising the Centre's Marketing and Sponsorship in the lead up to the start of our season and looking after some aspects of our Social Media. 

Child Safety Officer
Responsible for ensuring the overall safety of our children at Waverley LAC and ensuring we follow the current guidelines in place as set out by the Child Safety Standards. This position does not necessarily need to be on the Committee.

As President of WLAC, I implore our parents to consider joining the Committee, take on the challenge and put your hand up for one of the vacant positions above. Being part of our Committee is a rewarding experience, where you make new friends, learn a new thing or two and serve the Centre for YOUR children.
