David Ruschena
David continues to climb the Australian 5000m rankings with a fantastic 4th place at the Telstra A Series on Thursday 17th February 2005. David took the battle up to Craig Mottram and two Tanzanian runners and lead during parts of the race. He finished less than 10sec behind Mottram to record another PB of 13:37.57.
David had a magnificent win on Saturday 4th December 2004, in one of Australia's most prestigious running events the "Zatopek" 10,000m. It was one of the most exciting races in years, with six runners bunched together with a lap to go, before David broke away with a blistering 55sec last lap to win in a time of 28.59 mins. It was his first ever track run over this distance.
Less than two weeks previous to this, David was part of the Australian Team that ran the famous Chiba Ekiden Relay Race in Japan. The team finished 11th and David ran a very solid 5km leg of the relay in 13.59 mins. The Chiba Ekiden Relay is run over the Marathon distance, but split into various different length legs of 10, 5, 10, 5 and 12.2km for the men.
